When Jesus came to earth, He was thinking of all mankind. There wasn’t one soul He wasn’t thinking about when He left heaven’s throne to come to earth. He looked down at those in China, and said, I love them. He looked down at those in Egypt, and said, I love them. He looked down at those in South America, and said, I love them. He looked down at those in Afghanistan, and said, I love them. He looked down at the earth and all the people He created, and said, I love them more than they’ll ever know. There wasn’t one person He wasn’t thinking about when He was ridiculed, beaten, and torture. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities. And though He was despised and rejected of men, He carried our sins, our sorrows, and our infirmities upon himself. Being oppressed and afflicted didn’t matter to Him, because He loved us. He loved us with an unconditional love that we have a hard time understanding. He loved us with a love so great that it even loves its enemies. A love that would do anything, go anywhere to any length for those He loves. For God so loved the world…He gave His all.
Man’s love sometimes is artificial; it’s based on what others will do for them. If you love me enough, you’ll do this or that. Man’s love will fail at times when tempted in certain areas, and then comes infidelity in a marriage. Man has a hard time loving the unlovable, especially if the person dislikes them. Man could never love someone who killed their son or daughter. At times, man has a hard time even loving himself.
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16, 17
Who has ever loved as God, the answer is none. Who has ever given their life voluntarily for those who hated them, the answer is none. God has a love that surpasses our logic or understanding. His love for us is far deeper than we could ever comprehend. It breaks barriers between man and God, and man and man. It frees the soul to love others without fear; it frees the soul to love God back without fear.
God’s love is a forgiving love, and He put this love into action at Calvary. There hanging on a cruel cross, bleeding, burdened for those He created, suffering for mankind, love was manifested. God chose one way to prove His love for us, and though it’s hard to comprehend why, but then, maybe it’s because it’s the only way we could relate…One life for all.
God so loved us that His desire was for His children to be forever with Him, away from sin, away from pain, away from sorrow. He so loved us that He gave us a will to be able to choose life or death, right or wrong, love or hate, obedience or disobedience, humility or pride. He so loved us that He wanted to share all He has with us, and it started at creation and will last through out eternity. Love never fails, love it never ends.
